Couple saying their vows at Mt Baker during their North Cascades elopement

About this Winter North Cascades National Park Elopement

Based on some of the photos from this elopement, you would think that this was taken at North Cascades National park in the winter! You will be sure to know that this took place at the end of June! Because North Cascades are some of our most northern mountains in Washington, snow hits harder and hangs around a lot longer that one would think! Thankfully the road to Artist Point opened for M & D just one week prior to their wedding day!

The day before their wedding day was stunning, with the weather around 70 degrees and just the slushy snow to deal with. However, on their day of their wedding, mother nature decided to pull a fast one, hiding all of Mt Baker, Shuksan, and the North Cascade range away from view. This did make their North Cascades elopement look like it came from a winter fairy tale book! They pulled out their umbrellas, said their vows over looking Mt Baker (who has unfortunately hidden behind a thick layer of rain and fog).

We bailed on the idea of a sunset picnic outside and went to one of my favorite picnic shelters where we strung some lights around the shelter, lit a fire, and popped some champagne. They were able to dance under the twinkle of the lights with the rain softly hitting the shelter. It was truly a PNW elopement!

Although the weather will not always turn out as we hope on your wedding day, it does not mean it doesn’t get to be any less special and magical. M & D’s North Cascades elopement showed just that.

Kind Words From This Couple

Doug is a phenomenal photographer whom not only takes amazing photos but also took very good care of us during our session. First time being in Washington and Doug gave us recommendations on where to go for my elopement make up and cake! He made our whole experience so smooth and stress free! The best part was that he gave us our time during our session to enjoy the scenery and time to ourselves. We did not know what to expect for our elopement which it was so nice to go with the flow and let Doug work his talent on creating a timeline. Unfortunately we did not get to have a sunny day with nice views but we expected it with the unexpected weather in WA.
We absolutely had fun in the rain and in the cold snow! It turned out better than we excepted it. Doug was able to figure out ways to get us to see the beauty of Washington. He went out of his way to make sure we had the best out of our elopement. We highly recommend Doug as a elopement photographer. We will never forget our elopement adventure up in the North Cascades and Leavenworth!
