About Your Adventure Elopement Photographer
Special Education Teacher Turned Elopement Photographer
Doug McCulloch | He, him
My entire life I was told that job security was the most important thing to look for in a career. But after six years of college and four years as a special education teacher, I realized that what I was doing did not bring the happiness and fulfillment that I had been promised. So I took a leap.
Since I have spent a large portion of my life in the pacific northwest — whether that be sailing the San Juan Islands, hiking in the mountains, or riding my bike down long gravel roads— the leap from a steady 9-5 job to a more creative pursuit outdoors fit like a glove.
Just like I took the leap to a non-traditional path with this new career and with our own elopement in 2022, I would encourage you to keep the traditions that are important to you and blaze your own path with the rest.
Let’s build some new traditions!
My Why
More Important Than What I Do is Why I Do it.
Throughout my life, I have spent my energy helping others be the best version of themselves and see themselves as worthy of celebration. I became an elopement photographer to inspire and uplift people so they feel safe enough to be the best version of themselves and feel worthy of celebration.
My Values:
Inclusivity
Social justice is important to me in
both my professional and personal
life. I believe that all backgrounds, identities, sexualities & personalities are welcome. I believe in body positivity, love is love, Black Lives Matter, no human is illegal, and healthcare is a human right.
Environmentalism
It is a privilege and not a right to enjoy our time exploring the great outdoors. I believe that by following the Leave no Trace principles and taking care of the dirt we step on, we are ensuring that when you return to your wedding spot 10 years from now it is just as magical as you remember it was back then. I also vow to source things locally and hand-made whenever possible to reduce my own carbon footprint and that of your wedding day.
Accessibility
I believe that the outdoors should be accessible for EVERYONE, including those who are differently abled. As a former Special Education Teacher, one of my values is making sure everyone is included and able to share the same experience as others. I will make sure that everyone has access to the great outdoors and will find ADA accessible locations for couples and/or guests if needed.
